CHEMICAL BIODEGRADABILITY

Woods End Laboratory provides GLP-compliant agriculture testing to characterize half-life kinetics for agri-chemical substances undergoing compost and soil biodegradation.

Woods End also has the capability to provide agriculture testing to provide bioassay evaluation of residual chemicals.

The public has been subjected to various information about dangers of lawn-care herbicide residues present in home-made and industrial composts. Our lab group is able to set up dose-response bioassays which accurately estimate risk levels associated with residues and proposed application rates.

The principle agents that we are skilled to evaluate via bioassays are auxin-mimic herbicides. Laboratory professional fate-and-effects studies include:

  1. Post-depuration bioassays;
  2. Composting half-life kinetics;
  3. Post application field dissipation;
  4. Soil incorporation degradation.

The outcome of the evaluation includes but is not limited to : half-life kinetics, absence of plant symptomology; TC25 / TC50 bio-assay results.

A range on non-target plants (NTP) are screened for damage symptoms that may be due to herbicide carryover via agricultural composts.
FIELD DISSIPATION: After application, herbicides are examined for dissipation in plots studies up to 1 year
