Mount Vernon, Maine, June 9, 2022- Woods End Laboratories LLC, a US based leader in agricultural soil health testing, announced that Rebecca Harvey, PhD has joined the organization as Chief Executive Officer. Rebecca will lead the organization to further grow its presence throughout the US and internationally.

Rebecca joins the Woods End team having extensive experience in laboratory analytics, research, and process implementation. Having previously held the position of Director for Vermont Agriculture and Environmental Laboratory (VAEL), she managed a staff of highly skilled analytical scientists to meet the developmental, quality, and strategic goals set forth for the VT Agencies of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Rebecca brings a strong background in analytical, atmospheric chemistry (her PhD focus) and carbon science (her Post-Doctoral research) along with her recent experience in agricultural science and lab administration.  When asked about the transition, Rebecca stated “I’m excited for the opportunity to use my background and interests in carbon science to contribute to sustainable agriculture as it relates to climate mitigation and adaptation.”

Woods End Laboratories LLC was founded in 1974 by William F. Brinton, PhD and has been focused on creating solutions for emergent sustainable agriculture, with a focus on compost and soil health markets. It’s flagship brand, Solvita®, is a leading soil health diagnostic product utilized across the globe to help measure the biological activity in soil and composts. Dr. Brinton will continue to play a significant role a science advisor at Woods End by providing his expertise in the areas of research and development. When asked about the appointment of Dr. Harvey, Dr. Brinton stated, “I am thrilled to see the new second generation Woods End emerge to take on the very challenging global issues of soil and water resources that are threatening the stability and sustainability of farming”.

In April of 2021 Deveron, a leading agriculture digital service and insights provider, and A&L Canada Laboratories, a provider of leading-edge agricultural analyses, announced a joint venture to acquire Woods End Laboratories. This joint venture creates a turn-key soil health platform for the US agricultural markets and strengthens the US and International markets for the Solvita brand. This partnership along with the addition of talented leaders like Rebecca has allowed Woods End to execute plans for future expansion of their facility and offered analytical services.
